before jumping to conclusions..This is not a “Band of the week” post. I just was bugged by people lately criticising her. It started like 5 years ago in Hamburg, Germany. Our friend Khaled (AKA ye3) claimed in some cafe that she had a problem with her teeth that affected her overall look and made him regard her as an average looking girl. To my surprise many people agreed and it was like I’m the only one who thought the opposite. Anyways, I kept my yabber shut. Then there came another one, that was 2 years ago with someone saying that the meaning behind her lyrics were unrealistic and cannot express anyone’s feelings. 2 weeks ago it was said that her voice is not original, I.E her voice is computerized.
I’m not a big fan of her but I don’t think these are all fair claims. First of all I think many of us agree that she is like one of the cutest girls to be seen around (”around” being a term that virtually means planet Earth). Anyone who thinks otherwise (in my opinion) either has an extreme taste for beauty or isn’t being honest about it. As for the meaning of the lyrics. I have two things to say about it. First of all, she writes her own lyrics (or so we’re told) which is a big advantage to any singer. second, there are people somewhere around (”around” again being a term meaning planet Earth) who actually think the lyrics symbolize their lives at some stage or the other. On the contrary I feel that some of the songs are so unspecific to the extent that you can understand them the way that “fits” you. As for the last point, her voice being computerized.. I couldn’t care less. I don’t know how valid is that info but.. All of us listen to music to please ourselves, to pass time, to get a certain feeling/mood or atitude that we want at a specific period in time. If you computerize your voice, double the bass, add the ambience of 2 monkeys fighting in the background and then recomputerize the whole thing and come up with something that people like then you’ve done a great job. Still, I doubt it’s computerized to begin with judging by the solo “Nobody’s home” song done alive. Seems hard to computerize live stuff but I think “we have the technology”.

I think avril is pretty cute. her lyrics are pretty nice, not especially good, just average and it is defentliy better than many other lyrics, still worse than others too, she is still pretty cute with nice voice, it has its own pitch, she ain’t the best, but i think she is pretty good, i like her songs in general. and i can easily sees how they lyrcis fits in people’s life, not mine, but others.
