Martial arts are one of the many few things I like. But there are many types of martial arts, the majority of which are aggressive. Am no martial artiest but I think that aggressive styles are much more easy to master than peaceful styles. Just think about it this way, imagine soubani attacking you (with all respect to don soubani) which way will be more effective? You’ll die anyway but you should go for the aggressive style to make it quick and easy! Just imagine someone trying to lock soubani movement and trying to immobilize him! He’ll be history if he was not a master of his style. What I wanted to say is that finishing a fight by controlling your opponent without harming him is harder and better. You’ll be considered no part of the problem. This is exactly aikido. Aikido is made of 3 Japanese words, which are:
合 - ai - joining
気 - ki - spirit
道 - dō – way
Ballet and yoga are fused and remade into martial arts, that is aikido. In general, martial arts fighting styles are focused on building body mass along with other many concepts such as ki. In aikido the mass of body is not very important. Ironically enough the more powerful your opponent is the easier you can bring him down with aikido. Fitness is what matters in this style. You are most of the time waiting your enemy to attack, so you most be totally focused and relaxed to evade or synchronies your movements with him until you find the proper chance to disarm him of his weapon and lock his movement. Like you are trying to slow down your opponent’s time, while your time is still flowing normally.
In martial arts the concept kata is very well known. It means combo. Katas are one lame technique that the master tries to teach to his student, due to the fact it is much easier to learn, and it makes the master’s job easier in teaching. Katas are usually criticized for many reasons. For example, the fighter concentrate on performing his combo, forgetting he is in the middle of a battle, and that is enough to finish him off. Besides, once you have started your kata, there is no way back and you are totally predictable, which again we’ll make life easier for your opponent. In aikido Katas are not involved very much. Due to the fact that you wait your opponent to attack rather than starting you attack.
Aikido is one of the most modern martial arts styles. It was founded in Japan in the 1920’s. Its founder was considered as a rebellious young guy (named Morihei Ueshiba). He studied martial arts and come out with aikido. Many prefer calling it revival rather than creation. It was mainly based on the ancient Daitō-ryū aiki-jūjutsu style of fight.
But why do really these eastern people came up with these fighting styles? Do they really love fighting? The answer might be very strange. We know that eastern people are one of the most peaceful humans. Martial arts are nothing but a way to control what the call ki. Once you controlled your ki, you can do many things. Heal people, kill anything with a single finger and you can tore walls like paper. It is the living force. And it is not fictional at all. When western people started to learn martial arts, and when they came to direct impact with this concept (in advanced levels) they couldn’t understand it. They thought it was a sort of demonic force. So they tried to avoid it. To say the truth some of the martial art schools teach witchcraft side to side with the fighting styles, and that really explains where the movies based on martial arts get the idea of fire balls. But some says it has nothing to do with magic. It is just that some people can channel their ki out of their bodies. But it is not unreal at all. I once heared that envying mechanism is based n ki. We as Muslims don’t care how it happens. But we’d be glad to find so explanation to face others with when they ask about these strange things (for them for sure) in our religion. But we can’t forget that such concepts are not the same for both of us. I mean we both believe in god. But it is very different from each other.
I just wonder why we don’t come up (as Jordanians) come up with a special type of martial arts. We use in it Al-dbka or that Circassians dance (imagine your self dancing this last one and kicking someone’s balls! Ouch! That hurts) and what do we people do here for relaxing (rather than farting, though it might be a lethal weapon).
I think one of my future main goals (Allah willing) is to start learning aikido. May be in half a year or next year. Because I believe that a one most master any type of martial arts, not to kick anyone’s butt, no not at all. But due to the fact that it make you in full control of your self and is a good relief, not to mention the many other things you get to learn, which are a life attitude.

The title completely caught my attention. My 57 year old mother began learning Aikido last year and she loved it!! She said that as a businesswoman, it helped her in her work life as well, because Aikido teaches you how to reflect negative ki. You should begin studying it! Unfortunately, the studio she was learning at closed this year and there are no others in town; she’s moved in to tae kwon do, but she would choose Aikido over it if another studio opened.
are u from jordan dude? i know 4 places for aikido! if u want i can send u the adresses!
